Which past papers are in the question bank?
The QCAA publishes each year's external assessment papers and marking guides. The question bank is built from the 2021–2025 papers, broken down question by question and mapped to the current syllabus subject matter, so out-of-scope items from the superseded syllabus are not scheduled.

After many generations on an island with two distinct food sources, a beetle population shows a bimodal distribution of body size. Identify the type of natural selection acting and explain how it produces this pattern.

The verbs that carry the marks in Biology
Read the verb before the content. Across the 2021–2025 QCAA papers, 89% of short-response and extended items open with one of the QCAA’s cognitive verbs, and in Biology the marks cluster around a handful of them. “explain” alone heads 41 items. The verb sets the shape of the answer; the marks beside it set the depth.

Which Biology papers are included?
Questions are drawn from official QCAA Biology external assessment papers, broken down question by question and mapped to the syllabus subject matter. Inside the app you can also regroup them and sit a paper as one timed piece.
Do the flashcards cover the whole syllabus?
Decks are organised per key knowledge point across Units 3 and 4, and the subject heatmap shows coverage explicitly — so you can see which points you haven't touched rather than hoping.
How are the two Biology papers different?
Paper 1 opens with multiple choice and follows with short-response questions that lean on recall and explanation. Paper 2 is entirely short response and carries most of the data: tables, graphs and experimental scenarios you have to interpret and evaluate. The bank tags each question by paper and by the syllabus subject matter, so you can drill the Paper 2 data-analysis style on its own.
